Good morning, Armchair Army,
Welcome to today's edition of The Armchair Analyst, a 5-minute daily update on the ASX life-sciences sector.
I have this saying…
“Winners create winners”.
So let’s start today off with a WIN.
Melbourne’s Audax Bioscience signed an option and licencing deal with Astellas Pharma.
US$285 million upfront.
US$1.05 billion in milestones:

(Source: AFR)
A BIG WIN for Australian biotech.
Astellas is one of Japan’s largest pharmaceutical companies…
With a US$40 billion market cap.
Audax is a Melbourne-based startup that has developed a multi-specific antibody-cytokine fusion.
In layman's terms…
They’ve developed a drug that activates the immune system near a solid tumour using multiple targets.
This continues a string of acquisitions of high-potential, early-stage multi-specific drugs.
Multi-specific drugs are antibodies with TWO or more targets.
Block one pathway… AND activate another.
Activate one function… WHILE inhibiting a receptor.
A company on my “Armchair Watchlist” in the space is Immunexus.
A pre-IPO company with a bispecific “platform” (backed by Mesoblast founder Silviu Itescu).
Interestingly, Audax was almost completely bootstrapped.
No traditional VC investors or retail public markets were involved.
A bold strategy, and it shows there are many ways to build a biotech company in Australia.
Right now, it is tough going.
The capital waterfall is still stuck at the top…
We’ve been waiting for some winners for a while now.

But more winners like Audax will keep filling the waterfall…
… and hopefully the capital trickles down through the sector in time.
Well done to the Audax team!
Let’s dive in…
The Pulse Check
Tetratherix (ASX: TTX) publishes pre-clinical data showing its orthopaedic product works alongside Platelet-Rich Plasma PRP “holding it in place”. (TTX, Armchair Pick, held)
🪑 PRP is essentially taking the patient’s own blood and putting it back into the body.
PRP has mainly been used for knee pain in orthopaedics and sports medicine, with mixed results over the years.
The challenge has always been consistency.
This is because the PRP growth factors don’t always stay in place. That’s where TTX comes in.
If it can solve the “delivery problem”, it could unlock the technology's potential.
Importantly, this would be a label extension of TTX’s existing orthopedic product (for bone healing in the knee), which is currently under FDA 510(k) review.
… so a much quicker path to market.
Another great showcase of TTX’s underlying “platform” technology.
(and a potential huge market opportunity for the company)
Genetic Signatures (ASX: GSS) published the results of the 249D vote initiated by BCAL Diagnostics (ASX: BDX). (GSS)
🪑 Three of the four resolutions failed, with John Melki the only one to pass. He was the CEO of Genetic Signatures for ~10 years.
Also, the removal of Michael Aicher went down to the wire (about 60,000 votes). Which was about $50,000 of stock.

So what happens now?
Well… Genetic Signatures shareholders will next vote on the merger with Microba.
What this means for BCAL?
Hard to tell; it wasn’t a full loss (they did get one director on), but not a full win either. They haven’t got control of Genetic Signature’s board, and they are still 18.5% shareholders (and 22.5% if you count the Snow Family votes)
I don’t think this is the end of the saga.
4DMedical (ASX: 4DX) reports a first strike with over 25% of votes against its Remuneration Report at the AGM. (4DX)
🪑 The alternative? A $7.7M cash payday.
Still... if anyone deserves a big cash payday, it is the CEO of the best-performing ASX-listed healthcare company over the last 12 months.
... just a funny, roundabout way to get there.

Arovella Therapeutics (ASX: ALA) reports complete tumour clearance in an advanced gastric cancer animal model (5 of 7 animals). (ALA)
🪑 Very nice, while ALA-101 is a good market in blood cancers, Arovella's real prize is in solid tumours.
A good step towards this today.
Ceretas Limited (ASX: CTS) enrols the first patient in its Phase 2 CERE-CALM trial, an ultrasound platform for Alzheimer's. (CTS)
🪑 It begins!
Good luck.
Atomo Diagnostics (ASX: AT1) announces a partnership with Innovation Scientific to develop and commercialise a Generation 4 HIV assay. (AT1)
REPORT: Eli Lilly's Retatrutide outshines Ozempic on weight loss, blood sugar control in trial. (Reuters)
🪑 The weight loss battle is ON.
Retatrutide looks like the next benchmark (and a very good one). It sets a high bar for weight loss (but still had side effects).
~20% weight loss looks like the top-line benchmark, but the battle will be fought in all other subcategories.
(Side effects, muscle loss, where the fat loss comes from)
All the stuff my latest Armchair Pick, Resonance Health (ASX: RHT), measures.
The Report Card
Emyria (ASX: EMD) reports record quarterly revenue of $1.42M and launches its first cohort with the Department of Veteran Affairs. (EMD, Armchair Pick, held)
🪑 Good quarter; $1.42 million is solid revenue, with Sydney and Victoria set to ramp up over the next six months.
Good to see that the DVA has commenced too.
Control Bionics (ASX: CBL) revenue grew quarter-on-quarter, with unaudited revenue growing “each month”. 80 organisations engaged with NeuroStrip, 30 in live trials. Revenue guidance re-affirmed. (CBL, Armchair Pick, held)
🪑 A good “reset the base quarter”. A lot of work has gone into training the sales force at Tobii and PRC, and we should see that distribution revenue flow through.
ALSO, 30 live trials for the NeuroStrip (CBL’s wearable surface EMG device sold to sports & rehab teams) - keen to see some of those convert to customers this quarter.
I'm hosting a lunch today with the CBL team; I’ll report back!
Alcidion Group Limited (ASX: ALC) reports contracted revenue of $50.0M for FY27, up 38% from last year, with a notable $7.5M contract expansion with Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. (ALC, held)
🪑 Alcidion is on track to hit revenue guidance (and a potential upgrade) of “better than last year” ($51.6 million).
Analyst consensus guidance sits at around $55 million in revenue for the year.
So they’ve got 9 months to get there.
Mesoblast (ASX: MSB) reported net revenue of US$28M and an 86% improvement in net operational cash spend for Q1 2026. (MSB)
🪑 The market liked it this morning.
Immutep (ASX: IMM) 4C report reveals a cash balance of $48 million. (IMM)
🪑 I’ve been watching that cash balance closely. Almost $20 million in outflows (largely R&D expenditure to close out the previous trial).
It will be interesting to see whether spending slows or if they are full steam ahead.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they are a cashbox target just like Genetic Signatures has been.
$48 million in cash, $35 million market cap.
Ceryvyn Therapeutics (ASX: CYV) reports a cash balance of $27 million. (CYV)
🪑 Another cash balance I’ve been watching closely.
Trading at a $13 million market cap.
Burn rate has slowed to ~$1 million per quarter.
Cash Injection
Noxopharm Limited (ASX: NOX) has requested a voluntary suspension pending an announcement about a capital-raising exercise. (NOX)
Neurizon Therapeutics (ASX: NUZ) has placed a trading halt pending an announcement of the outcome of a proposed capital raise. (NUZ)
🪑 I don’t mind this.
If they can find the cash now to finish the trial (rather than use the convertible note), it could be a big win for the long-term investors.
I covered NUZ last week; check it out:
See you all tomorrow,
The Armchair Analyst.

What is an armchair pick?
An Armchair Pick is an invite-only spot I reserve for my highest-conviction investment ideas.
It's a paid arrangement, but to align myself, I only take my fee in shares - half escrowed for 6 months, half for 12.
It is general commentary only, not personal financial advice or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold. Always see the disclosure at the top of the article and do your own research.
